As we are navigating through the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are a lot of conversations happening about the effects on our mental health and wellness and that of the children in our care. We do not yet know the extent of them, but we can certainly offer opportunities to explore concepts such as mindfulness, relaxation, empathy, and resilience, which will provide us with the tools we need to support the families and children we work with.

During this global pandemic it has become apparent that people feel a need to express themselves through art. We have seen sidewalks and windows become canvasses, backyards and living rooms become dance studios, and kitchens become music studios. Somehow, we can all relate to each other through the expression of art. In this issue we will share some resources and tips to support the Arts with young children because we know how important it is for everyone to have opportunities to express themselves artistically.

During this time of physical distancing it seems that flower gardens are popping up everywhere! There's no better way to connect with nature and spread joy through your neighbourhood than by creating beautiful masterpieces in your front yard. We are also starting to see vegetable gardens sprout up! Being able to plant, grow, and tend to your own vegetable garden provides a sense of accomplishment as well as nutritious additions to your dinner table. Now imagine sharing that joy and accomplishment with children! Here are some resources to help support gardening with young children.
