Session 1: Teams Alive – What Really Improves Motivation; Wednesday April 22, 2026
New research into what truly motivates both individuals and teams is helping leaders understand what we can do to improve the motivation of individuals and positive culture of teams. This session will clarify why some of our traditional, well-intended ways of improving motivation don’t yield the results we hope for. You will leave the session with new, practical, and cost-effective strategies to help teams create a strong connection to your organization’s purpose, strengthening their initiative to solve problems and be creative. Based on the work of Daniel M. Cable (Alive at Work) and Dan Pink (Drive), the session will help you feel renewed energy for unlocking the potential in your teams.
Session 2: It’s NOT Rocket Science: Practical Approaches for Creating Your Next Strategic Plan; Wednesday May 20, 2026
This session will provide senior leaders (including executive directors, program managers, and volunteer board members) with a step-by-step approach to creating a well-crafted, three-year strategic plan. Topics include: Engaging the right people in the right ways (employees, families, community partners, funders), designing surveys (including a sample survey) to gather vital information, conducting a SWOT analysis, convening a planning retreat, formatting your plan (writing goals) and monitoring on progress. In addition, we will discuss how to ensure that your goals are truly strategic and not operational. The session will give you what you need to refine your current planning process or to create a strategic plan for the first time.
