Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • For RECE positions only: Registered Early Childhood Educator & proof of membership in good standing with the College of ECE or Proof of enrollment in an accredited ECE program if applicable.
  • Relevant education in childcare.
  • Previous Child Care experience.
  • Current immunizations as required by Niagara Regional Public Health and the Ministry of Education.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C certification.
  • Food Handlers certification preferred.
  • Upon hiring, applicants must be 18 years of age and older and submit a clear and satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) issued for the YMCA of Niagara.

Job Description
Child Care Assistant or Registered Early Child Educator

Location: YMCA Childcare Centres located in Grimsby

Pay: Position Dependent:

Child Care Assistant: $19.50 per hour (Inclusive of all government funding)
Registered Early Child Educator: $24.86 per hour (Inclusive of all government funding)

LTD, Group Life, AD&D, Health and Dental after probationary period
YMCA Membership and Free ECCDC membership
3 Weeks Paid Vacation
Eligible to enroll in the YMCA of Niagara pension plan after qualifying period

Employment Type: Full Time (based on 40 hours per week)
Must be available Monday through Friday

Placement Date: June 2025

NATURE & SCOPE

The roles of the RECE and Childcare Assistant are to help carry out the day-to-day operations of the Child Care centre, helping to implement programs for children in care within the requirements of the current curriculum.  


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the care and safety of the children 
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all parents, children and fellow team members; provide feedback to parents regarding their children 
  • Participate in training and adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures as established by the YMCA of Niagara 
  • Organize and implement activities for the group as outlined in the YMCA Playing To Learn curriculum 
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all parents, children and fellow staff 
  • Participate in training sessions when required including Food Handlers Certification 
  • Represent the YMCA in a positive and professional manner 
  • Other duties as required
