Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or related diploma/degree.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
  • Flexibility, relationship building and problem-solving skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR[C].
  • Upon hiring, applicants must be 18 years of age and older and submit a clear and satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) issued = for the YMCA of Niagara.

Location: EarlyON Child and Family Centre - St. Catharines

Pay: $18.07 - $19.18 per hour, With RECE: $19.10 - $19.67 per hour

NATURE & SCOPE

EarlyON Child and Family Centres are places where parents, caregivers and children build strong relationships with each other and connect with other families and EarlyON professionals. We offer a variety of programs and services that meet the unique needs of children and families in an inclusive environment. We provide resources and workshops with up-to-date information for all stages of your family life, from preconception and prenatal care, to nutrition, toilet training, toddler curiosity, and early school experiences.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver the EarlyON Core Services and programming in alignment with pedagogical approach presented in How Does Learning Happen? (Ministry of Education).
  • Participate with the children, caregivers, and families in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Refer families to appropriate community services and resources based on their needs.
  • Facilitate both child and parent/caregiver education workshops.
  • Plan and facilitate both indoor and outdoor workshops for families.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and stimulating physical environment within the centre, embracing diversity and supporting the inclusion of all individuals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community partners and other EarlyON service providers based on professionalism, cooperation, and respect.
  • Contribute to centre-based documentation of participant learning and inquiry.
  • Meet all YMCA standards and reinforce YMCA policies within centre.
  • Participate in training and adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures as established by the YMCA of Niagara.
  • Other duties as required.
