shifts vary between opening (6:30 am/7:00 am) and closing (6:00 pm)

• 1 - 3 years of experience in the child care field
• Current First Aid and CPR-C
• Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months **or current based on
employment
• Immunizations are up-to-date as per Medical Officer of Health
• Asset – Safe Food Handler Certification
• Asset – Quality Child Care Niagara Training
• Asset – Child Care and Early Years Act Self-Test – Schedule 1

Job Description
• Observe and participate in daily routines and activities regularly
• Collaborate with peers to ensure the inclusion of the Ministry of Education’s
“Foundations for Learning” (Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression)
• Providing challenging environments that invite the children to explore, take risks and
test their abilities in a safe manner
• Programming and offering indoor and outdoor environments that support children’s
self-regulation, and extends play/learning opportunities
• Providing an environment that supports and acknowledges children as competent,
capable curious and rich in potential
• Understanding and adhering to the Policies and Procedures and seeking
clarification, when necessary
• Ensure that the program complies with all Ministry of Education requirements
• Understanding and implementing How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy
for the Early Years
• Ensure the child care centres’ environment meets health and safety standards
• Encourage and support active family involvement
• Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with colleagues
• Develop and maintain a warm, caring and responsive relationship with every child
and with the group of children
• Adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of practice by recognizing professionalism
and balancing one’s personal and work role
